Quite regularly, we carry out qualitative research on specific commercial insurance markets our clients are active in or considering. Typically, these studies focus on risk management needs of the markets, loss control and other characteristics that affect their desirability as insureds, and competitive market players and conditions. Most often, we use telephone in-depth interviews with insurance decision-makers and/or brokers active in the markets, e.g. in studies of trucking insurance, food processers, metal fabricators, and plastic product manufacturers. At times, focus groups are most appropriate for the data collection; we've used focus groups in studies of commercial and residential real estate, restaurants, country clubs, and other industries In the past few years, we've had occasions to use on-line bulletin board "focus groups" as well.
